Founded in 1948, the sports club SG Motor-Boizenburg e.V. has been expanding its sports programs for years and continues to develop new offerings in recreational sports, both for adults and for its youth divisions. The dedicated board pursues ambitious goals, thereby creating a broad foundation for an active club life in the community of Boizenburg. Through partnerships with schools, these programs are brought directly to the younger generation—promoting active, health-conscious leisure activities and strengthening understanding and cohesion within the community. iCON International Container Service GmbH supports this exemplary commitment and has provided a mobile storage unit for sports gear and other equipment free of charge at the sports complex in Boizenburg. SG Motor Boizenburg e.V. and iCON Container GmbH are connected not only by the Elbe River but also by their shared commitment to actively contributing to society—a commitment that strengthens social well-being and promotes respectful and fair interaction among one another.

SG Motor Boizenburg e.V., a Community Sports Club

The SG Motor Boizenburg sports club was founded in 1948 and, with nearly 700 members, is today a vibrant community sports club currently offering 20 sports programs—and counting. The four active volunteer board members—Janett Aukstein, Sebastian Thiel, Mathias Quaas, and Anita Jomrich—do great work for the club and are the driving forces behind the conception, planning, and implementation of the ongoing expansion of programs, as well as the modernization and expansion of the sports facilities. The club is committed to continuously developing its cultural and sports programs in order to sustainably strengthen and enhance the cultural life of the town. Close collaboration with municipal authorities, sponsors, and other sports clubs is a key prerequisite for this successful work, which ultimately benefits the members and the entire community of Boizenburg. In this context, the modernization and expansion of sports facilities are of particular importance, as securing the necessary funding—in addition to extensive coordination and approval processes—remains an ongoing Herculean task.

A shipping container sets off on its journey from Shanghai to Boizenburg

Following the initial exchange between the board member—Sebastian Thiel of SG Motor Boizenburg—and the managing director of iCON Container GmbH—Wulf Aufgebauer—a plan was quickly devised to sponsor a 20-foot container to the club as a mobile storage unit. In April 2025, the container was commissioned for production at the factory in China with the container number ICOU735999-0. Two months later, on June 4, 2025, the container “saw the light of day” and rolled off the assembly line, painted light gray inside and out and featuring the club’s large logo on both sides.

The container was loaded for the first time shortly thereafter. After being loaded, it was taken on board the M/S “Ever ACME” in Shanghai, China, on July 23, 2025, bound for Hamburg. The ship belongs to the largest class of container ships currently in service and has a cargo capacity of 24,000 20-foot containers, with a length of 400 meters. After a 64-day voyage, the ship arrived in Hamburg. However, before the container could set off for Boizenburg as a mobile sports equipment warehouse, it first had to unload its cargo. After being unloaded, the container made another stop in Hamburg on September 29, 2025, for a final quality control inspection. However, before the container could be delivered to its destination in Boizenburg, the club had to obtain a permit from the building authority to install it. Once all inspections were completed and the permit was granted, the container was finally able to begin the last leg of its journey to Boizenburg in November 2025, where it found its permanent home on the sports field. It now houses and protects various sports equipment and other gear from the elements, and with its “Motor Boizenburg” logo, it clearly shows who is at home on this field.

Secure storage in the 20’ shipping container

The 20’ shipping container is a mobile storage unit for the short- and long-term storage of all kinds of equipment. Its rapid availability and the ability to transport such a container by truck to any location make it highly versatile and flexible. If no equipment is available on site to unload the container, it can be unloaded by a special truck equipped with a loading crane. The four door bars, combined with the special “lockbox,” make the container an exceptionally secure storage location. The Lockbox encloses the container lock in such a way that it is not freely accessible, thereby providing special protection against unauthorized access to the interior of the container. If you, too, need quickly available storage space for the secure storage of your goods and equipment, then iCON Container is your partner for purchasing or renting storage containers.
